What You will be Learning?

This One Day Course (Beginners Workshop) is designed for those flower lovers who wants to save time, improve their design skills, or attain new, learn the basic/fundamental strategies and techniques of floral design.

Being a student myself in the past, I realize how much time and effort it takes to have good design skills and build your own business. Despite being a student myself, there many things I had to learn on my own, developing my own strategies, and learn from my own experience. This is the reason why I decided to develop this course: to pursue my passion to teach, help others succeed and improve myself as a floral designer, as well as a coach.

This course will not make you a hundred percent competent designer in one day of course, as we all know it takes a lot of perseverance, diligence, knowledge, and skills.

However, we are dedicated and assured to:

Answer all of your questions along the way
Provide you with useful and essential theory for your own records
Cut off all nonsence and teach You the KEY principles and basics of floral design
Introduce you to the things you "must know". You will learn the top 10 secrets that floral design experts know and use but don't tell you.
Introduce you to the things you " must have " . We will teach you the absolute most essential tools and supplies you musy have to make ANY flower design look like the most luxurious piece of art.
Explain you flower handling procedures. You will learn how to proccess flowers, store, and use tips how to make them last longer.You will learn how to do necessary quality control checks and its importance.
Introduce you to pricing and ordering procedures. You will learn how to pirce correctly, how to handle deposits, pre-order for major events and Holidays.
Demonstrate and teach proper cutting techniques. You will learn how to properly use florist knife andf trim flowers .
Introduce you to other necessary things you should know prior to start a business. You will learn where to find the best wholesale pricing deals, how to place your standing orders prior major Holidays and events.
You will learn different varieties of roses, their grades and origin.
Hands on practice and assistance to give you a great start

Here is how your day is going to look like at AB Flowers Beginners Workshop

10AM-4PM EST (6 HRS )

Part 1. Each student gets a power point presentation: "Introduction to the Floral Design" home material, that includes: (design principles, elements, techniques, and styles of floral design; general care and handling procedures of flowers, pricing strategies and list of our favourite wholesalers)

Part 2. In Class Theory- 2.5 hrs.

Tool’s introduction, proper usage, and purpose
Types of containers and purpose
Seasonal flowers and their yearly availability
Flower quality and flower handling procedures
Different varieties of roses, grades, and origin
Wrapping techniques and essential wrapping materials
Delivery (Holiday Seasons)

Part 3:

Demonstrating step by step rose arrangement procedure in the vase
Students designing their own arrangement #1
Demonstrating step by step rose arrangement in container (floral foam)
Students designing their own arrangement #2
Wrapping demonstration
Class questions

Due to small class sizes, we promise to give each student as much "one on one time", as possible. We keep our groups small, no more than 6 people.

Class runs every other month, usually on the third week of the month, on Sundays.
